Institute of Service Robots (ISR)

Vision：
Service robots have a wide spectrum of applications in human life. They have demonstrated great potential in areas such as home service, health care, hospitality, education and entertainment. With emerging technologies such as cloud computing and big data, the intelligence of service robots is being improved at an unprecedented rate. We expect that an increasing number of intelligent service robots will enter our society helping boost our work productivity, enhancing our quality of life, as well as solving some societal problems, such as elderly care, shortage of human labors, etc.  The Institute of Service Robots (ISR) will take advantage of the excellent platform of Shenzhen Academy of Robotics to incubate a strong team of research and development, with a focus on robot actuation and control, sensor technology, and software intelligence. Based on that, we aim to commercialize the intelligent service robot technologies and other related technologies, therefore contributing to the development of a society of creativity and innovation. 

Mission：
The Institute of Service Robots (ISR) aims to develop advanced service robot platforms, sensing hardware, intelligent data analysis and machine learning algorithms to enable innovative service robot applications. ISR will focus on application domains such as smart homes, hospitality, health care, education and entertainment. Our long term goal is to develop breakthrough technologies in robot control, sensing and perception, internet of things (IoT) , cloud computing and artificial intelligence which can be used in new products and services that solve challenging societal problems.
